Founder & Creative Director of Om Lounge, Suzanne Nagel has been practicing yoga for 25 years. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, she worked in television news and marketing before making the transition to full time yoga teacher. After completing her initial 200 hour yoga training nearly a decade ago, Suzanne continued her advanced trainings and completed her 300 hour training with Faith Hunter, the creator of Spiritually Fly Method and Elevate Om. Known for sequencing creative classes, Suzanne has a knack for bringing soulfulness and insight to her teaching and yet her inner feistiness and playfulness are always present. In addition to her 5,000+ hours teaching in the studio, she has taught yoga retreats in Tulum, Mexico and many yoga workshops as well as Continued Education and Advanced workshops for Yoga teachers. Suzanne's love for yoga is undeniable and led her to create The Om Lounge Yoga & Wellness studio.
Alexi was lucky enough to discover yoga at the sweet age of sixteen, when her friends thought it would be something fun to try. From that very first class, she was hooked. A dancer her entire life, the fluid movement of vinyasa flow resonated with her, and also built strength in her body and mind that she didn’t know she needed. As her love and passion grew and she began a full time career in finance, her yoga practice became even more important. Alexi decided that she wanted to share her love of yoga. She took the leap and went through 200 hour teacher training in 2014. Alexi is known for challenging classes, moving through poses that are thoughtfully connected, with arm balances and peak poses always incorporated. In addition to years of studio classes, Alexi is a returning instructor of The Om Lounge training program. She has also taught at yoga retreats in Tulum, Mexico, as well as yoga festivals and various workshops in Pittsburgh.
For Lauren, yoga became a way to get through the bumpy times in life- her mat became a safe space to work out the daily stressors and cope with her emotions. She always left class with a newfound peace, inspiring her to complete the 200 hour teacher training with The Om Lounge. In class, you can expect intentional movements that lead you on a journey. Lauren hopes to cultivate a friendly practice where students connect with their body and breath, while threading yogic philosophy in a modern way. Outside of The Om Lounge, Lauren works as a Customer Service Manager. She loves a good book, relaxing with her future husband and plant babies, cooking new recipes and eating LOTS of ice cream! Lauren has led workshops, class at retreats, special events and personalized classes for corporate events. She is thrilled to be joining the teaching staff and supporting new teachers !
Rebeka always dreamed of one day sharing her passion and secret to keeping her sanity with others, but it wasn’t until she discovered The Om Lounge that she knew it was time. After raving about the thoughtful, challenging, and creative flow paired with a dharma talk she’ll never forget in her first Om Lounge class, she signed up for 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. Shortly after graduating, Rebeka’s love of organization landed her the role as Studio Manger. With experience in customer service, she is always happy to assist studio yogis with anything they need. In Rebeka’s class, you can expect lots of sweat from a challenging and thoughtful vinyasa designed for yogis new or advanced to help them escape from reality - and a corny joke or two. Rebeka loves to offer her students a challenge but reminds us all that you have to start somewhere. Just like life, Rebeka feels that your yoga practice is also a journey and looks forward to guiding you through it. Rebeka loves to share this sentiment with new teachers as well as she holds a position on the Yoga Teacher Training staff.
Alyssa first discovered yoga around 2011 when she was in high school. Her friend brought her to a class at their local studio. Right away, she was drawn to yoga’s focus on slowing down and quieting the mind. Seven years later, Alyssa decided to deepen her yoga practice by signing up for The OM Lounge’s 200-hour teacher training. Alyssa's classes consist of creative and thoughtful vinyasa flows that build from the ground up. Expect challenging asanas and fluid transitions, with an emphasis on mindfulness and meditation throughout class. Outside of yoga, Alyssa enjoys traveling, exploring Pittsburgh’s food scene, and playing with her cat, Milo.
Emily first found yoga in 2013 when taking summer classes for college credits called “Relaxation Skills” and “Religions of the World.” She learned what asana was, and how it could be used as a form of exercise as well as a way to relieve stress. She also learned about the Hindu and Buddhist religions and how and where the practice originated. Living in a small rural town about 2 hours north of Pittsburgh, yoga studios weren’t a thing. So she started watching YouTube videos in her college apartment. After moving to Pittsburgh in 2017, she kept up her YouTube classes until she was dragged by a friend to her first real Vinyasa class in January 2019 with Suzanne. Om’s focus on yoga philosophy as well as the asana kept her coming back for more. Fulfilling a goal to learn more about yoga and how to share it with anyone who would listen, she completed her 200 hour teacher training at Om Lounge. Emily believes your time on your mat should be a time you feel most comfortable in your own skin, and where you are in your practice that day. In addition to managing the studio, Emily is thrilled to be working with new teachers and hopes to help inspire their journey! Off the mat, Emily works as a commercial real estate analyst, loves math, reading, and finding the best patios in Pittsburgh.
